Air Terjun Gembleng

Mini Waterfall in Karangasem

“Hello, adventurers! Today, I want to take you to a place you might not have heard of before on the island of Bali, Indonesia – Gembleng Waterfall. Though not large, this waterfall has its own charm and is located in the lesser-known Karangasem area, precisely in the village of Sidemen on the eastern side of Bali.”

Adventure to Gembleng Waterfall

The journey to Gembleng Waterfall is an adventure. From the main tourist hubs of Canggu, Seminyak, and Kuta, the journey takes approximately 2.5 hours. If you happen to stay in Ubud, the distance is shorter, taking about 2 hours. The best and easiest way to reach the eastern part of Bali is by scooter or car.

The Charm of Gembleng Waterfall

Gembleng Waterfall may not be the largest waterfall you’ll find in Bali, but its charm is equally captivating. The infinity-style stone pool that you can plunge into and enjoy the enchanting scenery makes it well worth a visit.

The Meaning of Gembleng Waterfall

What makes Gembleng Waterfall even more special is its cultural significance. The waterfall is a sacred site and was initially used by the Balinese people for the traditional cleansing ritual known as ‘melukat.’ Over time, the place has been opened to the public and has become an increasingly popular tourist destination.

Visiting Gembleng Waterfall

“There is no official ticket price to visit the waterfall, but donations are always welcomed. This is one of the few waterfalls in Bali where any time of the day is a good time to visit. It is much quieter compared to other waterfalls on the island, and the expansive views and background are truly enchanting no matter when you visit. However, on rare occasions, there are still religious ceremonies held at Gembleng Waterfall. During these times, the waterfall is closed to the public.

So, if you’re planning a trip to Bali and seeking a unique experience away from crowded tourist spots, consider adding Gembleng Waterfall to your itinerary. It’s a place with natural charm, cultural significance, and soothing tranquility. Happy adventuring!”

Taman Ujung

Sukasada Park Ujung is attracting international tourists.

Hello, Traveler Friends! We have some exciting news for those of you who love to travel. Sukasada Ujung Park, one of the favorite tourist destinations in Karangasem, Bali, recorded a significant increase in visits during the New Year holiday in 2023. Wow, that’s really cool, isn’t it?

According to the Head of the Management Body of Sukasada Ujung Park in Karangasem, Bali, I Nyoman Matal, visits to this park during major holidays such as Christmas, Eid al-Fitr, New Year, Galungan, and Kuningan continue to increase compared to regular days. “Every day, the visits of foreign tourists range from 100 to 150 people, while domestic tourists range from 200 to 300 people. However, on holidays, tourist visits will increase significantly,” he said.

Sukasada Ujung Park, my friend, is located at the eastern tip of the Bali Province and is historically significant in the Kingdom of Karangasem. So, it’s no wonder that this place attracts many tourists, both local and international.

Foreign tourist visits until the end of 2023 reached a fantastic number, my friend. There were around 32,000 foreign tourists and 96,000 domestic tourists who visited here. Pretty amazing, right?

Sukasada Ujung Park, my friend, is one of the main attractions among several tourist objects in Karangasem Regency. The local government continues to maintain this tourist object and provides the best services to visiting tourists.

This park was built by King Karangasem I Gusti Bagus Jelantik, who held the title Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. Initially, its area was almost 400 hectares, but now only about 10 hectares remain. Most of the land has been distributed to the community during the “Land Reform” period.

However, my friend, this park still belongs to the private ownership of the Puri Karangasem family. Nevertheless, the general public is still allowed to visit. In this park, there are several buildings that were once used by the royal family, such as Pura Manikan, Bale Giri, Bale Kambang, Bale Bundar, Bale Kapal, Bale Lunjuk, and Bale Warak.

Ujung Park, my friend, is about 75 kilometers east of Denpasar City. It was built in 1909 under the initiative of Anak Agung Anglurah. The architects were a Dutchman named Van Den Hentz and a Chinese citizen named Loto Ang. The construction also involved a traditional Balinese architect known as “undagi.”

Well, my friend, Ujung Park is actually a development of the Dirah pond, which was built in 1901. The construction of Ujung Park was completed in 1921. In 1937, Ujung Karangasem Park was inaugurated with a marble inscription written in Latin and Balinese scripts, as well as in two languages, Indonesian and Balinese.

So, my friend, that’s a little story about Sukasada Ujung Park in 2023. Hopefully, it’s useful and can be a reference for those of you who are looking for tourist destinations in Bali. Have a great vacation, my friend!
